Ayo seasons change but people don’t, they say feelings change but memories don’t, They keep the mind in tune with what has been learnt, Our sight stays strong but the heart is burnt, burnt down by the passion that keeps it alive, the hope survives, day-to-day we strive, working nine to five, failure we survive, no mistakes alive, our destiny we live, they say seasons change but people don’t, our reasons rest but evil don’t, so we justify, with our wings we fly, fate we can’t deny.

“For A Reason” is a song that has been reworked more than once, some of you may know DJ Sbu’s version of it, sang by Zhane a neo soul/ hip hop soul group that has been unfortunately deformed for almost the last two decades. At first glance the song is clearly about a loss and learning to deal with it, to let go. Something no one has lived long enough to master.

With a deeper look and an open mind, this number explores the pure naked notion of being a believer. Failure is no stranger, though it should never reduce our self-worth nor the amount of faith we have in ourselves. Everything Happens For A Reason, a notion designed to help one not only accept what has happened but encourages one to dust themselves up with not just the same amount of determination they had from the start but with more fire, the guts to fly higher, to strive, to grab, to hunt for what the heart desires, for that, that keeps the mind inspired. Success. More fire.

About Ndumiso Mncwabe

When beautiful melodies tell us horrible things and grisly sounds tell us the kind truth. This is where life and music meet. They say music has the power to inspire change, I say music has the power to inspire vibes. Good vibes and bad vibes. It also has the power to inspire thoughts, but most importantly, for it to inspire change, it must inspire conversation. I smell music, I speak music. View all posts by Ndumiso Mncwabe
