Sticks & Stones & Weed & Bombs

Stepped on

Slept on but still she kept on

Up for days she weeps the sun on

Her cries don’t fall on deaf ears but rather those that don’t care

Slept on, slept on, she’s dealing with a loaded cannon

A con

The more she gives to him, the more she dies

As she leaves her body for the skies

She is now the everliving ghost of what once was

Slept on…

What the hell is being slept on?  No one has ever explained it to me nor have I taken any time to do any research on it, so like most I’ve made my own assumptions as far as what it means. I didn’t really think nor care about what it really meant until I started paying attention to Noah Cyrus and Labyrinth’s “You Make Me” video clip. If you watch the clip and think about what’s happening,  you’ll realize that both Noah & Labrinth are actually helplessly being slept on.

We often hear about undiscovered or unsung talent that is being “slept on”, It is a very real and sad epidemic, but then again, it really isn’t all that bad considering that those doing the sleeping are most probably only sleeping because they are yet to be introduced to or are yet to uncover that which they are sleeping on.

Tragedy comes when being slept on is the kind of being slept on we see on the “You Make Me” clip… When one is being slept on by someone they’ve obviously given themselves to, someone who knows them but for some reason is no longer moved by all that they are, all that they’ve given to them, all that they’re still willing to give… Is no longer worth losing a blink.

They know them interested, they know them awake, they’ve felt their attention, possibly their love and with every attempt to resuscitate the spark, they chip another piece off of themselves, they lose an inner peace… They retrogress…

Like a moth drawn to a flame they are bound to burn out, until they decide to rise once more and let go and start it over again in Mexico.

A Hundred Million Cold Hearts

Do you know what’s worth fighting for
When it’s not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?

Love, Yes love
They say love is God, or is it God is love?
Wording is almost as imperfect as the bare notion of what we think love is. They say it’s cursed by monogamy, they say it is birthed with hate.
Without hate, would it exist?
Without fate does the clock know which motion to take as it waves goodbye to us mere mortals?
As the tic tickles the toc, we die trying to figure out why we’re all here.

There’s a wild wind blowing down the corner of my street
Every night there the headlights are glowing
There’s a cold war coming on the radio I heard
Baby it’s a violent world
Oh love don’t let me go…”

There’s a cold war coming, and it is us
It’s the conflicts we architect amongst ourselves
With family, best friends forever. We’re bound to feel…

Bigger Than Jesus

Currently serving a life sentence, Mark Chapman was denied parole for the 8th time back in 2012. Receiving an autograph from John Lennon a few hours before assassinating him, Mark says he had to end John Lennon’s life after learning about claims and stats that ranked The Beatles popularity higher than Jesus…

“Mama

Still wonder if this shit is real

I get on the stage and women scream like Meek Mill

Fucking in some nollis bar with…

I took off my pants and she said short gun long dick… Load up the chopper like it’s December 31st

Roll up and cock it and hit them niggas where it hurts

If I die today, Remember me like John Lennon

Buried In Louie, I’m talking all brown linen

huh?”

They say everybody loves a hero, but what makes a hero? The villain of course, okay scratch that, before I go on a tangent I’ll come up with a different answer, perhaps one that is less mind wrecking to all of us, better yet, let me just insert the music part of this post while I’m at it, as music fans we all have music heroes, and with that, there’s something rather magical that happens when an artist decides to pay homage to an artist they perhaps look up to. With hip hop stars going on about how absolutely awesome they are in every other song, it’s refreshing when they rap or write in praise of an artist before them.

I think we can all agree that “Doc Shebeleza” was the biggest hip hop song in SA back in 2014, a song that pays homage to hip hop’s very own Doc Shebeleza, I don’t know if any one noticed this, but if you’re not from South Africa, “Doc Shebeleza” is basically a downplayed version of “John” by Lil Wayne. Both songs are titled after respected artists, both songs lionize living the life of a rockstar and well, the energy of the song is very much the same. Undress your mind and play Lil Wayne’s “John”, ignore the lyrics and rap/sing “Doc Shebeleza” over it an all will be obvious.

“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic, It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost”- Arthur Ashe

Loose Lips Sink Ships

I 1st published this post exactly a year ago. I’m republishing it as a tribute to Lemmy of Motorhead and how his music inspired and continues to inspire many… Looking back to see where I stand… Evolution… Evolution

“Last summer we took threes across the board, but by fall we were a cover story now in stores”

You know how meeting someone who listens to and enjoys the same music as you feels like you’ve just met your long-lost brother or sister? that’s something I will never feel towards new Fall Out Boy fans. At least those that become fans because of their new music.

Evolution is a good thing for anyone and everyone and evolving for any artist should be a priority, unfortunately as the artist evolves, the listener wont always evolve with the artist or at least our taste for the art wont always evolve to be pleased by the artist once pleased by and with that, pulling the same note over and over inevitably bores the audience and that’s where taking risks comes in, it’s win or lose, both the artist and the fan simultaneously…

We live in a time where time is money and everyone is using their time to make money… Chasing that dream and that billionaire status can sometimes consume us and who we are… We forget what’s important… And why we’re chasing these dreams in the 1st place… Today I’d like to share a quote I took from a song by The Kings of Leon titled “The Immortals”

“Spill out on the streets to start, ride away, find out what you are, face to face, Once you’ve had enough, carry on, don’t forget to love before you’re gone”

3 Day Quote Challenge Round 2! (Day 2)

It’s a Sunday, a day of rest, a day of worship… Yes not everyone is a believer and it’s no surprise considering how full of mystery the world is.

What is real and what isn’t? what’s true and what isn’t? We can debate that until we’re all blue in the face… What we all do know is that we all live, and we’ll all die.

Okay… I’ll try to make this as not awkward as possible… I really don’t know how to say it, so I’ll just say it… here goes;

Is it okay if I quote myself this time? Just this once? Will it be too weird? Okay.

A few years ago I was having a talk with a friend, she had passed out (fainted) earlier that day. She revealed that she had been trying out various (extreme) diets she also went on to tell me how insecure she was about her weight and how she knew what people thought of her…

It’s not just about our physical appearance, we try to fit in with the way we think, the way we speak and the things we have… We all have something, we all have someone. Unfortunately – fixated on what we think we need, we often overlook what we have.

To her I said

“The only people worth impressing are those that are already impressed”
